Consumer Products Safety Commission Extends Compliance Deadline

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently announced standards mandated by the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) that establish certain banned levels of Phthalates and Lead in children’s products to include strollers and infant carriers. Additionally the CPSIA prohibits retailers from selling any non-compliant strollers and infant carriers to these standards. The formal deadline for compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) was extended past the original February 10, 2009 deadline. This allows all retailers to continue selling products that have not yet been certified to comply with the new CPSIA guidelines.
